|
ScanAvert caters to the needs of the general consumer as well as, the retail industry, manufacturers, home/child-care professionals. Our company's mission is to provide individuals who choose to avoid or monitor substances, a method of determining, on a real-time automated basis, which products possess ingredients that are harmful, or beneficial, to them based on their profile.

The need for such technology could not be timelier. The NIH considers poor diet as the leading cause of all more costly, life threatening illnesses that constitute the majority of our health care expenditures. According to US Census, over one third of US Adults are obese, and over two thirds of Americans follow some form of diet, however less than 15% know what their recommended dietary allowances should be.
Fifty percent of Americans take prescribed drugs, often unaware they are ingesting substances that are contra-indicative.
ScanAvert offers a simplified method to avoid consuming substances in foods and OTC remedies that may interfere with the effectiveness of a prescription drug at the point of sale of those consumable products. Presently, pharmacies print adjoining information leaflets at the time the prescription is purchased. However, no standardized font or format exists, making this information difficult to read and digest. Further, this information is not readily available when purchasing consumable items that may contain harmful ingredients.
For those suffering from food intolerances/allergies, reading labels to ensure they do not contain any harmful or unwanted ingredients is a complex and time consuming process, difficult for even the most educated consumer. ScanAvert identifies all the seemingly unlimited terminology related to the same allergen.

To provide just a few examples: A parent is alerted that a snack containing "spart" is harmful to her wheat-allergic child, or that her chosen pain reliever is not recommended for pregnant women. A customer managing his Diabetes/weight is alerted that the carbohydrate grams/calories per serving of his chosen cereal exceed the dietary limits he established in his profile, or that her chosen product suppresses the effectiveness of her/her child’s anti-biotic. While shopping histories are maintained largely for commercial gain, never before have they been classified by more meaningful criteria and harnessed for consumer benefit.
Important Note:
ScanAvert is best used in the standard supermarket setting. Even though our product information provider Gladson, maintains the largest and most complete database in United States, the Big Box retailers (Sam’s Club, Costco) have their own product line, as is the case with generic/supermarket private label brands. The barcodes created for these packages are unique to them and not found elsewhere. We will continue to request their product information and believe that as our user base increases, these retailers will recognize they can promote their own products as proposed substitutes.
Further, through the registry information, requiring email and mobile phone contact, ScanAvert has the means, to contact its customers post point-of-sale in the event of a recall, a valuable and possibly life-saving service when considering the recent deaths from salmonella tainted peanut butter, numerous e-coli tainted produce and contaminated imports of toothpaste, pet food, and the counterfeit Heparin additive that resulted in 19 deaths. ScanAvert is the first solution to offer such methodology in over the 25 years since the 7 Tylenol deaths, because it extends to where all other technologies fail to, the consumer at the end of the supply chain. It is our belief that all consumers will insist upon this safety feature regardless of allergy, prescription, illness management or dietary concerns.
